Energy2Cure Sets Sail for its Annual Fundraiser: The Leukemia Cup Kickoff
Festive fundraiser to be held June 18, 2009 at The Drake

HOUSTON, April 7, 2009 - Energy2Cure’s Seventh Annual Leukemia Cup Kickoff will be held Thursday, June 18th from 5:00 to 9:00pm at The Drake, located at 1902 Washington Avenue in Houston, Texas. This fundraising event has become a summertime tradition attracting more than 400 patrons primarily from the energy industry and the sailing community who come together in support of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and its programs. It is the kickoff to the Leukemia Cup Regatta held annually at the Houston Yacht Club. This year’s fundraising regatta will be held June 26th to the 28th. Since its formation in 1999, Energy2Cure has been recognized as one of the top fundraising teams both locally and nationally every year. The organization’s 2009 goal is to raise $100,000 for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

“Energy2Cure’s Leukemia Cup Kickoff has established a tremendous following among professionals and sailors alike who enjoy this festive fundraising event while supporting a very important cause. Everyone looks forward to the kickoff because it is fun, upbeat, attracts a great mix of people and is held at a central location near Houston’s downtown,” notes Rob LaRocque, founder of Energy2Cure and co-chairman of the event. “It is an excellent way to raise awareness about leukemia and other blood cancers, showcase progress on the research front, and call attention to the continued need for support.” Patrons paying the $20 cover charge will sample fare from local restaurants who generously donate catered hors d’oeuvres for the occasion. Cocktails, cuisine and networking will take place throughout the evening while guests peruse the silent auction and raffle items which include fine art, private yacht excursions, wine, jewelry, and much more.

This is an excellent opportunity for businesses that are vested in the energy industry to gain some exposure and support a very worthwhile cause,” explains Sara Davis, co-chairman and founder of the Leukemia Cup Kickoff. Supporters of Energy2Cure’s past fundraising campaigns have included such companies as Dynegy, Williams Energy, AGL Resources, Seismic Ventures, Copano Energy, Anadarko Petroleum Corporation, Macquarie Bank Limited, Calyon Corporate and Investment Bank, Goldking Energy, Seismic Exchange Inc.
