Energy2Cure hosts 6th Annual

“Leukemia Cup Kickoff” Fundraiser

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

HOUSTON (April 21, 2008) Energy2Cure, an organization of dedicated individuals seeking to help eliminate Leukemia, is hosting their 6th Annual “Leukemia Cup Kickoff” on Thursday, June 12, 2008 from 5 to 9 p.m. at The Drake, 1902 Washington Avenue, Houston, 77007, announced Rob LaRocque, Executive Director of Energy2Cure.

This happy hour event benefits The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and serves as the kickoff for the Energy2Cure sailing team’s 2008 Leukemia Cup Regatta, which will be held June 20 to June 22, 2008 at the Houston Yacht Club, located on Galveston Bay near Clear Lake. Lisa Liles is serving as chairperson of the Leukemia Cup Kickoff with Sara Davis as co-chair, with support from a volunteer committee.

Over 400 of Houston’s energy and business professionals are expected to attend to help Enery2Cure contribute $40,000 to their overall 2008 fundraising goal of $100,000.

The Leukemia Cup Kickoff will feature a world-class auction, raffle and cash bar. An entry donation of $20 will be accepted at the door. Each donation helps aid the world’s largest voluntary health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research, education and patient services.

Forty years ago there was no effective treatment for leukemia or blood-related cancers, and patients were lost in a matter of weeks or months.  Thanks to research supported by the Leukemia Society, overall survival rates have tripled. This event combined with the Leukemia Cup Regatta will support additional research to stop leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma from killing an estimate of 60,400 Americans each year.

Several leading companies and energy corporations have donated to Energy2Cure’s campaign in support of the kickoff event in the past five years, including: AGL Resources, Calyon, Champion Energy Services, Copano Energy, Dynegy, Inc., Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Eximius Coffee, LLC, Halliburton, Keyspan Energy, Macquarie Bank, Occidental Energy, Prudential Financial, Seismic Ventures and Williams Companies.
